
Pre-pregnancy planning and care for women with diabetes
Pre-pregnancy planning and care for women with diabetes is an online course for health professionals developed together with the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS). The e-learning modules cover key aspects of pregnancy planning and preparation for women with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The modules include:
- Pregnancy and diabetes
- Preconception counselling (including effective use of contraception)
- Pre-pregnancy care
The course includes four non-assessed case studies to help you apply the content to your practice.
This course takes approximately 2 hours to complete. It can be used for continuing professional development (CPD) points and has been endorsed by the:
- Australian College of Midwives (ACM)
- Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) according to approved quality standards criteria.
You can self-report CPD points from completing this course to the:
- Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA)
- Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)
- Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
A certificate is provided upon completion of the modules and course evaluation. This course is available free of charge to health professionals. For more information go to the NDSS website
