This webinar is suitable for Aged Care or Disability Support Staff and any other health professional interested in supporting people with diabetes.

A panel of experts discuss the prevalence and causes of falls in elderly people living with diabetes. As well as strategies to help prevent falls.  An overview of medication mishaps and why this occurs and strategies to prevent medication mishaps. The importance of maintaining diabetes independence is also discussed, and how you as a support worker can help foster your clients’ diabetes independence. 

Webinar structure

The webinar is 1.5 hours long and includes 1 case study and 3 presentations, followed by questions and answers.

Suzanne Leahy is a Registered Nurse and a Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE) with 29 years’ experience. She has worked in Intensive Care & Coronary Intensive Care, community health, GP practices, specialist rooms and private practice. Suzanne currently works for Diabetes NSW & ACT where she has been for the last 10 years.

Pharmacist

Sarah is a Pharmacist who has worked in community pharmacy for 11 years. She is passionate about providing patient centred care and building rapport with people so that they feel comfortable discussing their health. In October 2020 she started working for Diabetes NSW & ACT in a role promoting the NDSS.
