This course is part of the APNA-accredited “Diabetes in Practice for Nurses” program and offers a practical option for those not ready to commit to the entire 12-hour program.

In this 1-hour segment you will learn about the different types of diabetes and their key characteristics, as well as the risk factors for type 2 diabetes.

  • This segment of the Diabetes in Practice for Nurses course consists of 3 modules. You can complete each module at your own pace.

This segment of the Diabetes in Practice for Nurses program has 3 modules. There are 2 short multiple choice assessments throughout. You can complete the course at your own pace. Your progress is saved, so each time you login you can pick up where you left off.

Online Delivery

Students have the flexibility to study in their own time online in the Diabetes Qualified Learning Management System. We recommend using a desktop computer or laptop with the Chrome website browser. Course completion requires approximately 1 hour of eLearning.

On completion of the course and by passing the assessments you will instantly be able to download your certificate of completion.

  • How many CPD Nursing points will I get from doing this course?

    The full Diabetes in Practice for Nurses program has been accredited for 12 CPD points and is endorsed by APNA for 12 hours of Continuing Professional Development according to approved quality standards criteria. This segment of the program is 1 hour, which is equivalent to 1 CPD point.

    It is important to remember that it is your responsibility to maintain and register CPD with your professional body. Most Registered and Enrolled Nurses will need to complete 20 hours of CPD every year and must keep records of this for 5 years.

    CPD is the means by which nurses maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge, expertise and competence, and develop the personal and professional qualities required throughout their professional lives.

  • How do I obtain my CPD certificate of completion?

    Once you have completed the course and passed the 2 multiple choice assessments, a ‘certificate of completion’ becomes available for download from the learning management system. You will receive a certificate with 1 Credit Hour.

  • Are the Assessments multiple choice and how many attempts do I get?

    Yes, the two assessments are formatted as multiple choice. The required passing score varies depending on the number of questions; it could be 80% or 100%, and this will be clearly indicated at the start of each assessment.

    You get 2 attempts to pass. If for some reason you need more attempts please email us.

  • How long do I have access to the course?

    12 Months. The time is calculated from when a student is enrolled into the online program. Friendly email reminders will be sent to students to ensure the course is completed within the time period. If you need an extension due to exceptional circumstances please email us.
