About BEAT IT Trainer Refresher Online

This program is for exercise professionals who have previously completed the face-to-face BEAT IT Trainer training day and competency assessment. As with the original BEAT IT training course, the Refresher is an evidence-based program for Exercise Physiologists, Exercise Scientists and other Exercise Professionals. It is designed to review and revise the skills and knowledge required to deliver safe and effective group-based physical activity and lifestyle programs for people with or at risk of diabetes and/or other lifestyle-related chronic diseases.

BEAT IT Trainer Refresher – Online includes six modules which have been developed by Accredited Exercise Physiologists, Accredited Practicing Dietitians and Credentialled Diabetes Educators.  The content covers chronic disease in Australia, the physical activity guidelines, diabetes, acute & chronic complications, exercise considerations and recommendations, and nutrition for physical activity.

In addition to refreshing BEAT IT Trainers with how to run a successful BEAT IT program, with the program now includes the added features of advertising and ongoing support from Diabetes NSW & ACT.

Course length: 4 to 5 hours

Points avaliable: ESSA 5 CPD Points | Fitness Australia 4 CEC’s

Prerequistes: Prior completion of BEAT IT face to face program and current first aid certificate

Eligibility: Exercise Physiologists, Exercise Scientists, Physiotherapists and Cert IV Personal Trainers

BEAT IT Support package to grow your business

Once both courses are successfully completed, Diabetes Qualified will provide you with 12 months of support including:

• Access to support materials such as the BEAT IT program manual and additional resources
• Assistance in establishing an initial client base via electronic mail-out to up to 700 potential clients in our database (NSW & ACT only)
• Opportunity to network online with fellow BEAT IT trainers via an online community platform
• Website listing for any BEAT IT programs you are currently running
• Promotion of your BEAT IT programs at our local community events (NSW & ACT only)
• Use of BEAT IT program branding within your facility

BEAT IT sub-contracting opportunity

Diabetes NSW & ACT will be funding a limited number of BEAT IT programs in various locations around NSW and ACT. This funding is intended to increase access to the BEAT IT program within the broader community, with a particular focus on areas with a high service need or low access to diabetes specific support services.
